In April 1944 Dan was enlisted in a forced labor unit. In September he escaped with another eleven comrades with the help of documents provided by the movement and arrived in Budapest, where he found refuge. Dan joined the movement\u2019s underground activities. He ran various errands and delivered food to the \u201cGlass House\u201d. After the war Dan was one of the leaders of \u201cHashomer Hatzair\u201d in Hungary. He was an instructor for the children in the movement\u2019s children\u2019s house. He wrote poems and did translations from Hebrew and world literature.
\nDan made aliya in 1949 and joined Kibbutz Ga\u2019aton. He lost his life in a tractor accident.
