Efraim was an only child. In 1939 he joined \u201cMaccabi Hatzair\u201d but a year later he became a member of \u201cHashomer Hatzair\u201d with a group of friends. In 1941, after graduating from high school, he learned construction locksmith\u2019s work. After completing his studies he worked as a professional locksmith. In December 1943 Ephraim was enlisted in the movement\u2019s activities.
\nOn 19.3.1944, the day the Germans invaded Hungary, he was staying in Budapest on sick leave. Following the instructions from the movement he went underground equipped with forged documents. He was sent on missions to the country towns of Debrecen, Nyirb\u00e1tor, Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za, Kisv\u00e1rda, Miskolc and some others in order to deliver Aryan documents and money to the local Jews, give them instructions on how to escape and information on what was happening.
\nAt the beginning of June 1944, following instructions from Moshe Alpan, Efraim crossed the border into Romania near the town of Nagyv\u00e1rad (Oradea). He arrived in Eretz Israel (Palestine) with his wife Tzipora on 4.11.1944. He joined Kibbutz Negba and was one of the founders of Kibbutz Yehiam.
\nIn 1959 he left the kibbutz, worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and later worked independently. He lives in Tel-Aviv.
