From 1938 he was an active Zionist within the framework of the Hungarian Zionist Association and a member of the national leadership of the \u201cGordon Circle\u201d which was connected with \u201cHashomer Hatzair\u201d. From 1942 until the end of 1943 K\u00e1roly served in a forced labor unit. In 1944 he was active in the \u201cGlass House\u201d and a member of the management until the city was liberated by the Red Army (18.1.1945).<br \/>\nFrom 1945 to 1948 K\u00e1roly was a member of the executive committee of the Hungarian Zionist Association for the \u201cBorohov Circle\u201d and served as its representative in the B\u2019riha operation. He held the position of head of the personnel department in the Hungarian Joint. In 1949 K\u00e1roly made aliya illegally from Hungary.
