In addition to studying at elementary and high school, David strived to learn Hebrew. When he was in the third grade, following the steps of his brother Meir, he joined the \u201cBnei Akiva\u201d movement. He stayed at a hahshara in Miskolc, moved to Budapest and became a member of the movement\u2019s leadership.
\nAfter the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, he started his underground activities according to the rules decided upon by the leadership:
\n1) not to cooperate with the Jewish Council established by the Germans; 2) not to wear the yellow star; 3) to use forged documents; 4) to move house frequently; 5) to find hiding places in time; 6) to work in the organization of the escape to Romania (tiyul) and from there to Eretz Israel (Palestine).
\nDuring a meeting in a park to organize the smuggling of Jews across the border, David and his comrade, David Asael, were arrested, imprisoned and interrogated. After some time they managed to escape. David resumed his activities and continued to deal with rescue operations. His parents and brother were also in Budapest. On 31.12.1944 two Arrow Cross men broke into his parents\u2019 apartment and took them to an unknown place.
\nThey were probably shot on the bank of the Danube.
\nSome months after the liberation David arrived in Eretz Israel (Palestine), stayed at Wilhelma, Gat Rimon and Hadid. He married Tzipora Magda Hirschfeld. From 1950 and for 36 years David managed the children\u2019s Institute \u201cNeve Michael\u201d.
