Dov came from a bourgeois family. When he was ten, he lost his father and the family lost their possessions. Dov was sent to a Budapest orphanage for orphans from Hungary, Ukraine and Poland and stayed there until 1944. He received forged Aryan documents with which he lived under a false identity.
\nAt the end of 1944 he showed up at the offices of the International Red Cross and was sent to the children\u2019s house on Magdolna Street where he survived.
\nAfter the liberation he worked as a messenger boy for the Eretz-Israel delegation.
\nIn July 1946 he was on his way to Eretz Israel (Palestine). He stayed in Cyprus for some time and in December 1947 he arrived in the Atlit camp (Palestine). He lived in Kibbutz Kfar Giladi, left and worked as a carpenter and instructor in carpentry.
