In 1943 Edna joined her sister Shulamit in Budapest. While she lived in a dormitory operated by the Orthodox Jewish community for young female employees, Edna got acquainted with members of “Dror Habonim”. After the “Arrow Cross” coup d’\u00e9tat (15.10.1944), Asher Arany delivered Aryan papers to the girls in the dormitory. Edna joined her comrades in a bunker on Hungaria\u00a0 Boulevard, but the bunker was discovered and they were all taken to the central military prison on Margit Boulevard, where they were tortured. Members of the underground rescued them in a daring operation. On 18.1.1945 she was liberated in the “Glass House”. In 1946 she made aliya illegally. Edna lived for a while in a kibbutz.
