From 1942 to 1944 Baruh organized the escape across the border between Slovakia and Hungary. In the summer of 1944 he was also active on the Hungarian-Romanian border in smuggling members of his movement. After 15.10.1944, when the fascist Arrow Cross Party rose to power, Baruh operated wearing the uniform of that party and rescued Jews.
