At the age of twelve David moved to Budapest with his family. In spite of the restrictions on the number of Jewish students, he was admitted to the department of electricity at university. In 1939 David joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” movement. In 1941 he had to abandon his studies, enlist in a forced labor unit and was sent to Ukraine. He managed to return to Budapest and at once joined the underground activities of his movement. After the Germans entered Hungary on 19.3.1944, David was again enlisted in a forced labor unit, but this time he was taken to the copper mines in Bor, Yugoslavia. He was rescued by Tito’s partisans. Prior to his second draft he had managed to complete his studies and received a diploma as an electrical engineer. David was a member of the movement’s leadership.
He made aliya and joined Kibbutz Ein Dor. He left the kibbutz and settled down in Rishon Letzion. David was chief engineer in “Elco” factory.
