After the Germans invaded Hungary, Rahel engaged in obtaining authentic documents at the offices of the Population Registry and distributed them to comrades in the underground. She stayed at the “Glass House” and, after the Arrow Cross Party rose to power, she was an instructor in the children’s house on Orsó Street in Buda where fugitives from the forced labor units also found refuge. At the end of December 1944 Rahel returned to the “Glass House”. She caught typhus but recovered. Rahel made aliya in June 1946. She resides in Kiriyat Bialik.
