After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, Simha engaged in underground activities. He obtained authentic Aryan documents from the offices of the Population Registry in Budapest. He stayed in a bunker, in a cave in the hills of Buda. The bunker, whose entrance was through a deep hole, was discovered and the rope down the hole was severed. Simha and another three comrades were trapped in the bunker for one month. Eventually he managed to get out and hid in a forest. He returned to Budapest and was caught by the fascists. Simha was taken to the Gestapo headquarters in the Majestic Hotel, tortured and moved to a prison. He was liberated thanks to a Swiss Protection Document. Simha stayed at the “Glass House” on 29, Vadász Street. After the liberation he collected Jewish children and sent them to Eretz Israel (Palestine).
Simha made aliya in 1949. He is a member of Kibbutz Shomrat.
