Until the age of thirteen Eli studied at a yeshiva. He joined the “Hehalutz Hatzair” movement which was to become “Dror Habonim”. He was a Zionist underground activist in Budapest. Eli was one of the initiators of the bunkers. He was the commander of the bunker on Hungary Boulevard that was captured by Arrow Cross men in a battle. Eli was arrested by the Arrow Cross and imprisoned. He was liberated on 2512.1944 by members of the Zionist underground. After the liberation Eli continued with his activities, especially finding Jewish children in Hungary and Germany and helping them make aliya. Eli made aliya in 1947 and joined the “Parod” garin staying in Kibbutz Ein Harod. With the garin he founded a new settlement. He held the position of head of the regional council “Merom HaGalil” for four terms, totaling 22 years. When he died, Eli left behind a widow, one daughter and three sons.
