He joined the youth underground and served as a liaison between the “Glass House” on Vádas Street and the “protected houses” that were under the protection of neutral countries.
About ten days before the liberation of Budapest by the Red Army, he and his friend Haim Blau were tasked with making contact and delivering food to a group of friends who had been captured in bunkers and released by the underground from the prison on Margit Korut and were hiding in a hiding place.
Karpaty and Blau left the “Glass House” with food packages in their hands, but did not reach their destination. No trace of them was found.
According to one theory, they were arrested by an Arrow Cross patrol and executed on the banks of the Danube, and according to another theory, they died in the German headquarters, in the basement of the Royal Palace in Buda.
