Haim took part in his movement’s hahshara. In September 1943 he was enlisted in a forced labor unit, ran away and arrived in the movement’s bunker in Hüvösvölgy, in the hilly part of Budapest. Haim was caught due to an informer, incarcerated in the military prison on Margit Boulevard, interrogated and tortured. He was liberated on 25.12.1944 in a daring operation of the Zionist underground and arrived at the branch of the Swiss consulate on Wekerle Street and from there he moved to Vadász Street. Haim made aliya. He was a member of Kfar Hahoresh.
