Between 1940 and 1943, Joseph took care of groups of children within the framework of the “Hashomer Hatzair” movement. He was enlisted in a forced labor unit but managed to escape. Joseph joined the underground and was sent to work in the children’s house on 90, Dob Street which was under the protection of the International Red Cross in Budapest. After the liberation Joseph was in charge, in Germany, of a group of about 200 children who were going to make aliya. He himself made aliya in 1947. Joseph is a member of Kibbutz Ga’aton. For many years he was a teacher. He is now in charge of the kibbutz archives. Joseph is also an artist.
