Mordehai’s family lived in the town of Losonc (Lu™enec). His mother sent him to a “Bnei Akiva” hahshara in Budapest where many youngsters found refuge from their persecutors. Mordehai dealt with the delivery of food to the needy in the Yellow Star Houses on a tricycle and carrying forged documents. His family was sent to extermination camps but in August 1944 Mordehai crossed the border into Romania with the help of comrades from the movement.
Mordehai made aliya and stayed within the framework of Aliyat Hanoar.
